Literature Text
I always believed
That the galaxies
In your eyes
Were more than just
The reflection
Of the sun,
Like I could pour glitter
Down your throat
And make you a star.
But you broke
My kaleidoscope glasses,
And forced my eyes
Wide open,
And now, I can't
Go
Back.
You're only a
Shattered
Glass window
That shone just right;
A mere reflection
Of multi-coloured starshine.
All you are
Is warped glass shards.
You're a monochromatic mirage,
And I'm a victim
Of translucent thinking, but
I see right through
Your clear, smooth lies.
That the galaxies
In your eyes
Were more than just
The reflection
Of the sun,
Like I could pour glitter
Down your throat
And make you a star.
But you broke
My kaleidoscope glasses,
And forced my eyes
Wide open,
And now, I can't
Go
Back.
You're only a
Shattered
Glass window
That shone just right;
A mere reflection
Of multi-coloured starshine.
All you are
Is warped glass shards.
You're a monochromatic mirage,
And I'm a victim
Of translucent thinking, but
I see right through
Your clear, smooth lies.
Literature
tree
It is okay to be getting your hair trimmed for the first time in eighteen months.
It is fine to let yourself inflate a sad story and then another,
like pink gum bubbles
In the direction of anyone who will listen.
You can now chew over the last year and a half of your life
from a distance, when you’re at the hairdressers,
after she notices the short patches by your sideburns with an inquisitive look.
You can hold back the tears with relative ease,
as if telling of someone else’s illness,
rolling the grief around in your mouth like a gobstopper
whist her acrylic nails gently graze the backs of your ears.
You can use an entire palm
Literature
how to love someone
I grow distraught at the thought
that my words will turn cloy
under the weight of the waterfall
imbued with my saccharine sentences;
as my feelings cascade like a velveteen curtain,
the ineffable emotions cover you like a coat-
they continue to fervently flow,
and become foamy pearls and pebbles
pooling by your feet
I know these waves of water
won’t steal the breath from your lungs,
but rather fill the riverine veins
traveling towards the tributary
of your awaiting heart,
and for this-
I’d rather drown you in affection,
than have a drought.
Literature
addicted
my words struggle to reach you
I feel them claw the air
desperate for breakthrough
as if still you're there
rendezvous prescription
waiting for refill
adrenaline affliction
addicted to the thrill

Something I came up with while working on a piece for A Picture to 1000 Words' July Contest themed "Monochromatic".
I don't know if I really have the right idea... any suggestions?
Thanks guys <3
