Oceane, Adrift
Undone from sea-moorings,
I float.

The sea has bid me barren, an
island with no anchor.

Bleak and pale I drift,
to and fro.

Gentle giants nudge me,
their fins propellers – spurring
me on.

Sailors cry out, their
voices lost amid deep thoughts and
deeper dreams.

I drift, an island set
free too soon.

Anchorless, I ride storms and waves;
the way children ride ponies.

Torn from my harbour,
I sail.
dfc 12-6: monotetrai thought i'd write a tongue twister:
one that doles out oral blisters,
has folks begging 'mercy, mister!'...
i just missed 'er, i just missed 'er.

so...that leaves me writing aimless,
monologuing blithe and shameless.
should i be accused of sameness
am i blameless? am i blameless?
-selfless-slipping from the sky
one lonely star
grants its last wish
Tree Of Rot she is but the
        remnants
             of
    the tree
   (of life)

that she
   has
 blossomed
   for so
  many years.

she was
(once upon a time)
graced with
 beautiful
  golden leaves

but now
   they have
browned.

supple, young
  flesh,
the eye
  of so
  many

is now the
 home of
 fungus
(addiction)

and
decay
(broken dreams)

she was once
       the
      tree
     (of life)

but now
 all that
  remains

    is
  mold
lipstick-stained collars the one-of-a-kind
look you shoot
has been duplicated
far too many
times to count.

your eyes must
be made of glass,
the way they
wander so freely
in your sockets.

it's unimaginable
to think that those
callouses on your palms
are the result of work,
instead of your infidelity.

the sickening
scent of your
scandalous second-life
has stained
our love.

it's ridiculous
to expect honesty
from a snake,
or forgiveness
from a shrew.
GreyI like the color grey;
it's not black and it's not white,
but sometimes it's a little blue.
Real QuietThe only mystery is the echo
when a person leaves.  No organ ever
detected it, the clang of one vacuum
striking another. Even when I unthought
it: the first silence, repeating like
a ghost. The end came

exactly as its beginning, discreet
and with gentle dignity (a mask of voicelessness). My
restlessness was spent on a hum
of radio, bird rush, voices. All day sounds
which were only silence.  This
transmutation of energies, a cycle, a thought
that nothing has an ending: this is what
I heard. Two

weeks now and each
flashing eyed dream is shorter, at least

in my memory.

this is the sound
of angels suffocating

it is summer
and we laugh at
the tender-sweet
suicides
with guns
to their lover's heads

the stars are bleeding
across the sky
 .you make
wishes

&
liars who stop
dreaming
won't
forgive themselves

you are consummate
as you slip in
choke on your own tongue
murmur sweet-nothings
it doesn't mean
as much as you think

because your lover-boy
is a liar-boy

these
arsenic kisses
will poison; you
eventually.
You can't have all of me.I hope you'll understand,

I've parcelled my heart
up in postcards
and back-alley blow jobs
and I might
still want to kiss
other people and
touch other people
and love other people

but I'll never want to
come home to anyone else.
mad houseyou are a moan that
crawls like a tarantula
down the hall to my room.

papier-mâché girls dance
in the garden, wild women, burning
with their dreams of becoming
skeletons, and through their
parchment skin i can see their
wasted hearts struggling to beat.

a dead boy visits me at night.
i lie rigid in my bed, paralysed
while he stands by my window, white
as the underbelly of a fish,
still dripping with water
from the ocean that stole his life.

and i can still feel their hands
on me,
as cold and rotten as the hands
of a corpse,
the prick in my backside while
they fill me with their venom.
they rape me of my life
a
Revenantthey came like phantoms;

oceanic whispers left me washed out.
those gossamer ghosts that lined
the doorways-- eyes in a constant
state of surprise as they reached for me:

needle fingers pricked, fueling
my addictions. they ached
for my veins, entangled like
the strings of my paper heart

and they stained my skin,
amethyst bruises in the shape
of recognition.

their breaths were the heavy hums
of a forgotten lullaby "one day you
will leave, and you will fade into a
virulent void, like us. you will warm
our icy bones, and we will love you,
like no one else can.

go back to sleep, little girl, we will
come again" with their cer
RestlessI’ve been living in the same breathy dream
for too many days now; I’m bed-ridden and
stale and I reek of those moments that come
full throttle like a car crash on a winter night

     this is evolution where weak hearts
     are afraid of the shadows and where
     everything changes,
     an apologetic wind births no remorse;
     he will move on—anchored ship
     set sail, I am the sunken wreckage
     that never learned how to swim.
     he will move on, Darwin says
     I never had a chance

I wish I were the textbook sadness,
symptom and solution and endurance
but I’ve spent too long sleeping on the
Stormingi.    Summer rain fingers
      quietly trickle down cheek
      bones and window panes.

ii.   Eyes darken into
      shadows until morning light;
      the tempest remains.
ghostwriterhere, everyone’s pupils are dilated
and skin is stretched too tight
to expose the wind-swept spider webs
writhing beneath their porcelain composure

here, the shadows are afraid of us.

(and it is our desire
to finally come down to that place
of completion
where we
are
simple skeletons
with bleached
bones and
detached jaws)

at night, the rigid ghosts rock me to
sleep.  their cardboard  hearts and
inky eyes just begging to be seen

(it is only in the
darkness that I am
perceived to be more
than I am; holy
nightlight, exalted
star to guide them
all home

sleepily but
steadily blinking
out.)

the current carries my name,
I have spent

Ocean Eyes

Your skin would be lace
Between my fingertips,
Tangling with streams
Of golden sunlight that
Button you up,
Leaving intricate patterns
That tell your secrets
With every thread.

You'd breathe like a mermaid,
The scent of the sea echoing
In our veins,
Like teenage hearts
Pumped full of lust.
Too fast.
Like heels on marble floors,
But you're so
Much closer
Than that.

You're blood in my lungs
And air in my heart,
But I live only
Off the raindrops
That fall from
Your soft, sea-stone eyes
When a smile curves your lips.

The edges
Gathering me,
Unraveling me.

(I carve you in the sand,
But ocean tears
Wash you away.)
